Policies
Thank you for joining us and enrolling in classes at Taking the Lead.
We take great pride in offering you a clean, fun, and safe environment
to learn in. The following policies have been set to maintain these
goals and keep your classes a pleasurable experience.
Only dogs entered
in classes are allowed on the premises.
Canine or Human Aggression
Dogs displaying
aggression toward another dog or human will not be allowed to remain
in class. Clients asked to leave class due to an aggression issue
will be given a pro-rata credit toward private lessons and or referred
to a behaviorist. All human clients displaying aggressive behavior
will be excused from class.
Bitches in Season
Being that
this is a controlled environment and our dogs need to learn to work
among distractions, it is OK to come to class ONLY if your in-season
female is wearing a sanitary garment that will absorb the seasonal
discharge preventing it from dripping on the floor and equipment.
No refunds for bitches in season.
Refund Policy
No refunds are given
after the class begins. Missed classes can be made up on alternate
days or times with prior knowledge and instructor permission. There
are no refunds for missed classes.
Payment Policy - Building Rentals and Private Lessons
A 24 hour notice is required to cancel either
a building rental, private lesson, or evaluation. We regret having
to implement this policy. However, since we have cleared our schedule
to accommodate you, we respectfully request timely notification if
the appointment can not be kept, if not we will charge you for the
lost time.
Vaccination Policy
Proof of recommended vaccinations are
required prior to the start of class. All dogs/puppies need to be
current on vaccinations according to age for DHLPP, Rabies. Bordatella
recommended but not required. A copy of the necessary Vet records
must be presented prior to bringing your dog to class. Failure to
provide vaccination information will result in termination from class
without a refund. We are aware of varying and developing opinions
regarding canine vaccination. Certain exceptions will be made with
written documentation from your veterinarian.
Picking Up After Yourself and Your Dog
As a pet owner it is your responsibility to pick up or
clean up after your dog. There is a designated area across from the
building for your dogs to relieve themselves. We have provided a garbage
can and "pooper scooper" for ease of pick up. If your dog has an accident
in the building we have necessary cleaning supplies for you (bleach,
paper towel, a mop) and the remains can be deposited in the garbage
can outside. If we find that you are not picking up after your dog
inside or outside that is cause for excusal from class without a refund.
For dogs with urinating/marking problems, the above policy applies,
and, you must clean up after your dog immediately. You will be asked
to get the problem under control prior to your further participation
in class, or your dog must wear a diaper, ace bandage or other device
to prevent further marking.
Policy on Children
Junior handlers are
encouraged and welcomed. However if your child is attending class
to watch they must be on their best behavior. This is a safety issue.
No child is allowed to visit, pet, or approach other dogs and clients.
NO running and no climbing on agility equipment. They must be sitting
in the chairs or with their parents at all times. If a child is unable
to do this you and your child will be asked to leave.
Cleanliness
We understand that this is Michigan and the weather is very unpredictable.
As you would expect of a visitor in you home, please make an attempt
to keep our home clean. Please clean or brush your dog prior to class.
Do not bring them to class right out of the swamp. We have mats at
the front door please use these to wipe yours and your dog's feet.
On bad-weather days towels will be available to wipe your dog down.
If you happen to bring something in on yourself and your dog, please
clean it up promptly with the necessary cleaning supplies.
THANK YOU for your cooperation! |
